New Reading Curriculum Series

ILS teachers came in over their summer vacation to meet and discuss our plans for a new reading curriculum for next school year. After reviewing four curriculum series, we have decided to go with Treasures as the new reading series for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. This series by Macmillan / McGraw-Hill will be all-inclusive and cover reading, spelling, vocabulary, and handwriting. In addition to Treasures, students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will continue to utilize Shurley English for grammar instruction. We are truly excited about this new curriculum for our Language Arts program and are sure you will like the results!

Summer Enrichment Classes

Immanuel Lutheran School will once again be offering Summer Enrichment Courses.  Does your child like Curious George? Do they love science? Would you like to help develop your child’s volleyball skills? We have these and many other summer enrichment classes for children going into 1st through 6th grade. These classes are open to all children – current ILS students and those from the church and the community! Information packets and registration forms for these classes are available by clicking here or by contacting the school office at (636) 239-1636.

Children's Relay for Life

Students at ILS raised over $575 in support of the Children’s Relay for Life!  Students had the opportunity to purchase Capri Sun drinks, luminary bags, paper chains, and purchase tickets to wear shorts and flip-flops! Pictured are children in 3rd through 6th grade showcasing their classroom paper chains. Students will participate in the Children’s Relay for Life on Friday as they show their support of this great cause!

"Arkeology" Musical!

Come join us at Immanuel Lutheran School on Friday, April 23rd at 7:00 pm for the 1st – 4th grade musical production of “Arkeology”. This familiar Bible story about Noah's ark is told using creative dialogue from the animals’ perspective as God leads Noah on one of the most outrageous adventures in the history of mankind. Noah's obedience protected him and his family through the greatest storm the earth will ever encounter. This fun-filled musical is a great reminder that God will help us weather any of life's storms as long as we are obedient to His will.

Balloon Launch at ILS!

We had great weather for our balloon launch on Thursday! Teachers and parents were involved in the preparation of approximately 250 red and white balloons. Each student received a helium-filled balloon as they walked outside. On the short ribbon was a card with a short message from ILS and the child’s name and grade on it. After a few words by Mr. Hopfensperger, the balloons were released into the sky! What a great way to visualize our ministry into the world!

Grandparents Day

On Wednesday, we celebrated Grandparents Day at ILS! We had a great turnout, with nearly 200 grandparents and guests join us for the celebration. The day included a chapel service, classroom visits with activities, and a reception.
Once these activities were done, we held an all-school program with each class performing a skit or song to thank our grandparents for all that they do in our lives. We concluded the event by having the entire student body join in singing, “We are Immanuel”.

Celebrate Lutheran Schools with us!

This week, we celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week with Lutheran schools across the nation! Below are some of the activities that we will be participating in this week:

Sunday – the student body will sing “We Are Immanuel” in both church services. This song was written by Kris Lacefield’s father, Norman Albers, and has become quite a tradition at ILS!

Open House this Sunday!

Immanuel Lutheran School will host an open house this Sunday, February 21st. Doors will be open from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for families to visit the school. Those in attendance will have a chance to tour the school, visit classrooms, meet teachers, and talk with the principal. For families unable to attend this weekend, a series of informal open houses also continues every Wednesday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Call the school office (239-1636) for more information.

ILS Basketball Tournament

Join us this weekend as ILS hosts their annual 7th and 8th grade boys basketball tournament!  There are eight teams from area elementary schools that will be competing to bring home a trophy!  God's blessings on our athletes and the coaches during this tournament weekend!
