Total Eclipse at Immanuel

Immanuel is planning a couple of things to observe the once in a lifetime event of the total solar eclipse that will be visible in Washington.

1) We have a one time Bible study prepared for the day before, on Sunday, August 21, at 9:30 a.m. This will be a great study to help you fully appreciate what will happen in our seeing.

2) ILS will be watching on our new property. You are welcome to join us. We have a very limited  supply of glasses that will be first come first served. You may want to secure yours before coming to Immanuel to watch. The total solar eclipse is about 1:15 pm on Monday and will last for about 2 1/2 minutes.

African Children's Choir in Concert

The African Children's Choir will be in concert at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School on Friday, June 30, at 7 pm.

Immanuel hosted the ACC 5 years ago. They performed a beautiful and uplifting concert to a full house. This year's concert promises to be just as great. Don't miss it and bring your friends.

Vacation Bible School is Right Around the Corner!

VBS dates are drawing near! Mark you calendars for June 12-17. With this year being the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation, this year's VBS theme comes from Martin Luther's great hymn: "Mighty Fortress". It will be a great week.

Holy Week is Upon Us

This week was the culminating moment in all of history. On Palm Sunday Jesus rides into Jerusalem as a king. On Thursday He will give the Lord's Supper and be betrayed. On Friday He will die a horrific death. On Sunday He will rise from the dead. All of it for you.

Palm Sunday worship at 8 & 10:45 a.m.

Maundy Thursday worship at 6:15 p.m.

Good Friday worship at noon and 6:15 p.m.

Easter Sunday worship is at 6 a.m. at our cemetary and at 8 and 10:45 a.m. at our church.

Lenten Season in Full Swing

Wednesdays in Lent are times for reflection that leads to repentance. These Wednesdays lead to Holy Week and the culminating events in all of history.

Worship opportunities are each Wednesday at noon and at 6:15 pm for families.  The Lenten theme is following the 10 Commandments (in reverse order) each Wednesday. Easter Sunday will focus on the First Commandment.

There is a Lenten Dinner each Wednesday from 4:30 to 6 pm. This Wednesday's dinner, 3/29, is sub sandwiches with sides.

Immanuel Sponsoring New Luther Movie

Immanuel Lutheran is sponsoring the new Luther movie, "Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World" at Washington's theater, Cinema One Plus. The movie will show only once on Monday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance online or in Immanuel's church office. The online link is:

Tickets are $10 which includes a $1 handling fee. A special feature is that after the movie, Rev. Dr. Erik Herrmann from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, will offer a 30 minute Q & A at the theater. Dr. Herrmann was an on site advisor to the documentary. We anticipate the movie to sell out.

Don Wharton in Concert this Friday, March 3, 7 pm

Don Wharton has been a poplular guest at Immanuel's Concert and Speaker Series in recent years. His music, story telling, humor and expression of faith are heart warming and encouraging.

This is a family concert. Don will engage the entire audience and all will enjoy the evening.

Immanuel's Concert and Speaker Series events are always free and open to the public.

God With Us Sharing the Gospel Has Begun

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School has been greatly blessed through the years. More blessings are before us. The retiring of debt, new green space and parking are the focus of our new capital campaign "God With Us Sharing the Gospel". Here are the basics of the effort:

Franz Schubert's Winterreisse at Immanuel This Friday, January 27, 6:45 pm

Immanuel begins its 2017 Concert and Speaker Series with an evening of beautiful music by Franz Schubert. "Winterreise" will be performed by the voice faculty from Southeast Missouri State and accompanied by acclaimed pianist, Jennifer Judd.

The music will be accompanied by visual presentation on Immanuel's video screens. Before the 7 pm concert, at 6:45 pm, there will be a pre-concert talk on Shubert's Winterreise.

All Concert and Speaker events are free and open to the public.


Christmas at Immanuel

Immanuel's Christmas schedule includes the following worship opportunities:

Christmas Eve - 4, 6, or 11 pm

Christmas Day - 9 am

All services have Holy Communion. Please gather with us as we rejoice in God's gift to us of Himself.

The following New Year's weekend will follow our regular weekend schedule of worship with Saturday worship at 6 pm and Sunday at 8 and 10:45 am. Our guest preacher that weekend will be Rev. Dr. Jonathan Nauman, missionary in the Dominican Republic.
